About Plybot

PLYBOT IN 30 SECONDS

Plybot is about matching the things you love, with a physical object, to create a smile.

If you love fortnite you can print your character.

If you love biology you can print a model of a human eye.

If you love DIY, you can print off a new hook to hang your photo on.

If you love London, you can print a model of Big Ben.

If you love your dog, you can print a  new name tag.

LOVE + OBJECTS = SMILES.   CREATING BILLIONS OF COMBINATIONS.

WHAT IS PLYBOT

A MARKETPLACE: WHATEVER YOU LOVE, WE WILL HAVE AN OBJECT THAT CREATES A SMILE.

Our objects are designed by anyone & everyone [This is the Plybot Creator Community]. Kids, professional designers, big brands, football teams, governments. ANYONE can design their object and upload it onto our marketplace for people to find, print, rate & share.  Our marketplace provides creators with the opportunity to get paid regardless of whether they choose to offer their object for free or for a price.

A 3D PRINTER: LOW COST. SMALL. SIMPLE. SAFE. CREATING PERFECT PRINTS.

With decades of experience in the 3D printer world, we felt that too much time & effort is spent talking about specifications, print volumes, & resolutions.   We believe that people want something that works beautifully, is simple, and won’t break the bank. PLYBOT 3D is just that!

FILAMENTS: LOW COST. PLANET FRIENDLY. LOTS OF COLORS.

Printing in 3D requires a special type of filament. Our printer uses PLYBOT_INK which has been designed solely for our printer. This ensures that replacing a filament is as simple as using our printer, and that the quality is always second to none.

BACK STORY & TEAM

Plybot started several years ago in the Head of Josh Mitchel. At 12 he was sat is his bedroom creating 3D printers from the ground up, whilst most kids his age were getting stuck into their latest video games.  Fast forward 6 years, with Josh now aged 18 - what started as a bedroom project, wins Josh the UK Young Engineer of the Year, for his printer Plybot! Fascinated by the 3D printer movement Josh wanted to prove that a 3D printer could be built for less than $100 whilst still maintaining print quality and speed.

Enter onto the scene Ian Wilding. Josh and Ian met through a mutual friend in Josh's home town of Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.   Ian's focus over the past 20 years has been the creation of digital products and marketplaces for many leading brands and start-ups.  Ian was immediately interested in the concept of a digital marketplace and 3D printer offering, identifying that one of the biggest challenges to the growth and adoption of 3D printing has been the way in which it is packaged and communicated to users.  It's not relevant to the majority of people, printers are complicated, often big, and they are expensive to run and operate.  The work that Josh had put in and his vision for low cost, simple 3D printing was really interesting

In Sep 2018, they joined forces to bring their proposition to life combining a marketplace which mapped things that people love with 3D objects they can print. Those objects would print with a single click. No calibration, no messing, no glitches - beautiful prints every time

In Dec 2018  Brook Drumm joined our founder team. A well known character of the 3D world, being one of the first people to successfully run a 3D printer Kickstarter campaign (Raised $800K +) where the product actually shipped and had many happy customers. Brook was the founder of PrintrBot which went on to ship over 50,000 units, generating over $10m in revenues at its peek. Brook also became  co-host of 'All American Makers' US TV Show.  Brook having vast experience in manufacturing high end 3D printers shared our vision, and wanted to get involved working alongside Josh and Ian to develop a 3D Printer that could deliver on the cost, simplicity and quality 'must haves'.

Today

Plybot Inc is based in sunny San Clemente, Southern California. With sun on our skin and sand between our toes our team have moved quickly to advance. What started as a vision has quickly become a reality. By pooling our expertise and resources we have been able to progress both the Plybot Marketplace and the Plybot3D Printer, which will culminate in our full market launch in July 2019, just a few short months away.
